On Friday 16th November sixty members of’ Teams for Married Spirituality’ were joined by some parishioners from St Gerard Majella.for the a annual Mass of the Charter of Equipes Notre Dame celebrated by Archbishop Mark Coleridge and concelebrated by Fr Gerard McMorow administrator of Chermside West Parish, Fr Ian Howells sj and Fr Rafal Rucinski PP Nerang Parish
The Gospel of John 15:9-17 was the basis for Archbishop Mark’s homily in which he reflected on the three meanings of the word “love”. Eros – the sense of desire, Filios – the sense of friendship, and Agape – self-sacrifice. It was the latter which best describes sacramental married life. . Married Couples choose to live a Eucharistic life – This is my body given for you. (Luke 19:22) Today more than ever married couples living a Eucharistic life are God’s gift to the whole Church, in our world.
The Mass was followed by a ‘Bushman’s Dinner’ in the parish hall with entertainment by Bushman Poet, Mark Feldman . The enjoyable night gave couples and spiritual counselors in ‘Teams’ the chance to catch up and share their stories of the past year.
The Movement of Equipes Notre Dame began with four couples under the guidance of Fr Henri Caffarel during World War II in France and under the patronage of Our Lady.
The Charter of ‘Teams of Our Lady’ was first published on 8th December 1947 .
Today members of Teams pray for the beatification of Fr Henri Caffarel and celebrate the Charter Mass close to the 8th December date each year.
