Marnie and David have been married for 43 years and have been members of Teams for 29 years. They have four married children and five grandchildren.
Both have been retired for nearly three years. Marnie was a teacher and a counselor. Later in her career she worked in international education. This involved much time overseas recruiting students to study in South Australia. David worked for 38 years in drug and alcohol rehabilitation services with state health departments in Tasmania and South Australia.
Marnie and David have had a long involvement with the Teams movement often planning formation activities and events. They were recently Sector Couple for the Southern Sector of SA and are now Regional Couple for the SA-NT-WA Region
Regional Spiritual Counselor
Monsignor John Swann OAM
16 Oldham Street, Kapunda, 5373
Ph. 08 8566 2763
I was ordained in 1957 after completing studies at St Patrick’s College, Manly, NSW. My first eleven years were spent in parish life at Mt Gambier and Parkside. I then spent 20 years in Family Welfare with a focus on marriage counseling, marriage education and immigration. I also had many other diocesan involvements. I joined Teams in 1976 and have been chaplain ever since. After leaving the welfare scene I was Parish Priest at the Adelaide Hills and Tranmere while still maintaining an active interest in Teams and other marriage, family and ethical issues. Now retired and living back in my old home town of Kapunda, I assist in the local extensive parish and am School Chaplain at Gleeson College.
East West Sector Couple
Jo and Chris Adey
We have been members of the Henley Beach parish in Adelaide for 40 odd years, and began our Teams life when we joined Team 12 there in 2004. Since then we have done the usual rotation through Responsible Couple, but it was the Oceania Retreat in Melbourne in 2016 that opened our eyes into the National and International Teams Movement, and the people who are involved at that level. It seemed a natural progression to accept nomination to the Sector Couple position and we are pleased to have been chosen.
We are parents to Dan, Jono and Julz, all in their 30s, and grandparents to 3 girls and 2 boys. We began our working lives as teachers, Jo in the State Primary system and Chris in the Catholic Secondary. However, we both moved out of education, with Jo working as a Receptionist at Uniting Communities for the past 10 years. Chris went back to uni to become a physiotherapist before retiring at the end of 2016, to take up babysitting of our 3 youngest grandchildren 4 days a week!
On a more personal level, Jo enjoys cooking, quilting, Sudoku and has recently discovered cycling. Chris enjoys crosswords, running and cycling, completing 11 BUPA challenges at the Tour Down Under. He also returned to Aussie rules goal umpiring last year and plans to continue for the foreseeable future.
Southern Sector Couple
Alison Marlow and Ian Cameron
0439 634 108 (Alison), 0497 928 639 (Ian)
We married in 1993 and have been in Teams since 2000, when our two sons were very young. Our Team consists of families with similarly aged children and it has been an enriching journey together, of shared experiences and spiritual growth. Our sons are now young adults, both studying at university- one currently on an overseas exchange.
Alison has worked in the health and aged care sector for many years, Alison Marlow and Ian Cameron with semi-retirement approaching. Ian was employed in training and education and is now retired. However, he is now busy with volunteer roles in our local Emmaus Parish, including outreach. He is also currently a Council member of the Adelaide College of Divinity.
In the past we have been involved in Teams Formation Day activities and look forward now to working with the Regional Team and liaising with individual Teams in the Southern Sector. Teams’ membership is something we value greatly, both as a couple and family. We have made many wonderful friends over these years.
Regional Membership and Oceania Newsletter Couple
Penny and Peter Cahalan
When we married in 1979 we came from different backgrounds in terms of religion and friendships and quickly agreed that we wanted to create a new shared community. We found it in Teams which we joined in 1980. Our three daughters and son all grew up within the framework of ‘their’ Team (SA 6). We’ve been involved in Teams in a number of roles and have particularly enjoyed piloting several new Teams over the years. Our shared training was in history but from there Peter has branched into tourism and Penny is a counsellor and celebrant. They both barrack for the Adelaide Crows –when they’re doing OK. Penny and Peter are also now the Oceania Newsletter editors.
My husband Mike and I married in 1990; were blessed with twin sons in 1993. Mike chose to fulfill the RCIA at Henley Parish in 1996 and our family was blessed with Team 40 in 1999. Mike lived with cancer until 2010. Teams nurtured our ability and opportunity to communicate in intimate, caring and accepting environments.
I am fortunate to work with all of the Catholic Parishes in the Adelaide Archdiocese as their Finance Liaison Officer. While my work as an Accountant for the Archdiocese takes me from Mt Gambier to Yorke Peninsula, my team is in the East West Sector, which includes the Port Pirie Diocese. My education and professional and personal experiences provide me with the skills to undertake the role of Regional Treasurer with reasonable confidence and support.
If anyone should ever have any questions, suggestions or comments please do not hesitate to contact me at any time either through Teams or the Archdiocese.

There is one Team in the West, based in Perth. Recently Sr. Maureen Stempko CSFN has joined the Team as spiritual counselor (not pictured below).
They are keen to have more Teams so if there are any couples interested contact Marnie and David Watts, the SA/NT/WA Regional Couple in the first instance.
